| THE ISLAND
MONKEY is set on an island in a fictitious place called ‘THE
BAY OF THUNDER’.The island is divided into 4 districts,
North, South, East, and West. These districts are connected
to the mainland by 4 bridges. Under each of these bridges
are the entrances to a maze of disused tunnels that lies beneath
the island’s subway network.
Across the middle of the island, from east to west, is the
‘VALLEY OF ELECTRICITY’.
In the centre of the island is ‘THE GOLD HOTEL’.
THE TIME ZONES
The island has unique and mysterious ‘Time Zones’,
three in all. Time Zone 1 manifests itself at the top of the
Gold Hotel, in Hotel Room 1,
Time Zone 2 is ‘earthly’ or normal time, on street
level.
Time Zone 3 lies beneath the island’s subway network,
in the maze of disused tunnels.
The ratio of the time zones is a day to a decade;
i.e. a day in Time Zone 1 is a decade in Time Zone 2,
a day in Time Zone 2 is a decade in Time Zone 3.

THE TWILIGHT ZONE
In addition to the 3 Time Zones, there is a ‘Twilight
Zone’. It is an undefined space that is free from any
restrictions of linear time. It is contained within the rooftop
restaurant of the Gold Hotel, which has no physical access.
From this space, via ‘all-seeing’ security surveillance,
events from other time zones can be calibrated and observed
sequentially. |
