THE PERIOD

BAY OF THUNDER 1952 Year Of The Water Dragon
60 years before the events of ‘Monkey’,
The Metal Dragon is planning to develop the island of Hai-Wan.

Beneath the island he is building a large acceleration chamber - a series of huge underground tunnels, following the natural curved contours of the island.

His experiments in The ACCELERATOR revolve around his obsession with defying time.

It is the ruins of the Accelerator that lie beneath the future subway network of the island and provide the dark, curved tunnels of the Underworld, where Monkey, Mei and the lost children eventually come to hide.

THE DRAGONS

On the island the first generation of children are growing up.Four boys and four girls will become the future
DRAGONS of the four districts.
